A project managed by Watpac for a large organisation that plays a role in every-day life for most Australian businesses and individuals. The organisation reaches more than 10 million Australian addresses and has recently expanded their Melbourne and Sydney Facilities to cater for the rapid growth driven by online commerce. Each site constructed an additional 15,500 square meters of warehousing facilities with loading docks and staff amenities, at a cost of more than $25 million for each project.
Remax were asked to provide a solution to segregate two areas of a large processing facility where a permament wall solution was not an option. The site was being leased at the time and due to the large warehouse dimensions, a largescale, hardwearing product was required.
The Remax team suggested a Flexwall Temporary Divider which could be manufactured to any length, any height and fixed to roof steelwork and tensioned to the floor. For the initial stage of the project, Remax designed and installed approx.1500 sqm of Flexwall, demountable partitioning system, to segregate the airconditioned existing section of the distribution facility, from the new extension.
Key requirements were:
- Separate dusty construction site from clean operational area.
- Maintain temperature and minimise air conditioning loss between controlled and non-controlled area.
- Allow natural light transmittance between areas.
- Provide a durable, easy to clean finish.
- Reduce heat or air conditioned loss
- Prevent cross contamination.
The second stage of the project involved installation of Movidor High Speed Doors to external exits to enable forklifts to have quick access to the warehouse as well as large heavy vehicles delivering goods to the site. With the heavy flow of warehouse traffic, the automated Movidor High Speed Doors are ideal to keep the flow running, while proving to be effective barriers to un-invited elements.
Flexwall is made up in manageable sized panels which are then joined together and suspended from roof steelwork and tensioned down to form a permanent partition. This removes the need for intermediate framework and ensures minimal loss of floorspace. The panels interlock using our dust tight overlap systems and PVC coated high tensile steel cables.
Flexwall is adaptable and relocatable. Changing the factory layout is
“…the Remax team have provided a great solution for this project. The new Flexwall installation was installed quickly and with minimal impact on our operations. And the end result is so impressive that we’re considering re-deploying this installation to another area of the facility once the project is complete” - Expansion Manager
SCOPE OF WORKS
New Flexwall installation provides effective temperature control between air-conditioned and non-air conditioned zones on site. Neat fixing design allows easy cleaning and effective seal to floor.
Rapid installation ensures minimal impact on operations. Movidor high speed doors installed in Load-Out areas.
Remax Roller Shutter Doors installed in Load-Out Areas, Melbourne.
